Irrigation
To improve the efficiency of an irrigation system:
• Upgrade to "smart" irrigation controllers to reduce water use by up to 75 percent.
"Smart" controllers use sensors and weather information to manage watering times and frequency. As environmental conditions vary, the controller adjusts irrigation, and will turn off your sprinklers during rain, high wind or low temperature.
• If using a simple timer, pay attention to weather reports and take into account changing conditions.
• Ensure that water is distributed evenly on the lawn and not on sidewalks or driveways.
• Maintain systems on a regular basis to catch leaks and ensure even distribution of water.
• Don't overwater! One inch of water a week is enough to keep a lawn green. Our area receives on average, ¾” of rain per week during the summer.
