• The average person in the U.S. uses 100 gallons of water each day.
• A typical home can waste 11,000 gallons of water every year due to running toilets, dripping faucets, and other household leaks.
• Toilets built before 1992 may use between 3.5 and 7 gallons of water per flush. Under current federal law, new toilets must not exceed 1.6 gallons per flush (gpf).
• Average clothes washers use about 40 gallons of water per load, while high-efficiency clothes washers use less than 20 gallons per load.
